Sierra Nevada Cattle Drive Itinerary
Day 1: Thursday
12:00 - 2:00: Arrive at the North End Stage Stop B & B, in Quincy, adjacent to L&L Ranch and Pack Station; check-in and drop luggage. Gather at the Farnsworth Ranch to work on detailed plans and strategies. Then begin a historical tour at the Plumas County Museum; as the Curator gives you the rich history of each stop along your cattle drive. When finish, you will stroll down to Café Le Coq, for our icebreaker French cooking class - a 5-course meal. Next, we’ll walk across the street to the Farmer’s Market to enjoy wonderful local music while picking your favorite produce. Return to L&L Ranch to preview and pick horses and be fitted to your tack. Settle down for the evening while surveying maps of the weekend trails and routes. We strongly recommend an early night for an early rise.
Day 2: Friday
7:30 am – 9:00 pm: Begin the day over a fresh cup of coffee. Join Cowboys loading hay truck and feeding horses. Return to enjoy a resplendent breakfast with Christina. Saddle and trailer the horses for Farnsworth Ranch. Gather all but sick cows and calf pairs to young to drive. Push cattle to corrals on the other side of the railroad tracks. Enjoy a BBQ lunch at the Farnsworth fishing reservoir. Then, head’em up and move’em out to the Nordt Ranch. Once we Roll into Nordt Ranch we’ll the push cattle into the North 40, check fence line and switch irrigation. Then make camp and settle down for a wonderful bonfire, campfire cooked meal, folklore and guitar sing-a-long. Our Head Wrangler will regale you with his traditional songs of the trail.
